Central Hall Westminster fundraising hits £50k
Central Hall Westminster has just passed a major milestone in its fundraising for Toilet Twinning – by reaching the £50,000 mark.
The central London conferencing and events centre has been raising money for the past three years, through donations to special collection boxes outside its customer toilets and on its corporate floor. It has also twinned some of its own toilets.
Visitors and event professionals are asked to donate loose change to help those around the world in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and hygiene training.
Since 2016, Central Hall Westminster has in fact collected just over £52,000 – much of it donated by visitors who have had a free tour of the iconic central London venue and who want to say ‘thank you’.
Toilet Twinning CEO Lorraine Kingsley comments: ‘Central Hall Westminster is a lively and busy place with many, many visitors so to have such prominent collection points is just wonderful, not just because visitors are so generous but also because lots of people hear about our work in this way.
‘So Central Hall Westminster’s generosity is multiplied as people make a point of finding out more about Toilet Twinning after their visit – and some even twin their own toilet at home as a result. We are privileged to have such a longstanding, fruitful partnership with such an iconic building and with such a great team of people!’
Central Hall Westminster MD Paul Southern says: ‘We are not simply an events venue, we also exist to provide money for charitable works around the world. Any profits from the numerous and varied events held here are used to maintain our iconic building and to support charities. This scheme offers an additional way to contribute to causes that we feel strongly about.’
