Axis makes a big splash with new cleaning contracts

A leading cleaning company is committing to give every new toilet it maintains this year a thorough cleanse – and a toilet twin.

Axis Cleaning and Support Services is to ‘twin’ every toilet in every new contract it wins this year with a latrine overseas – through the charity campaign Toilet Twinning.

Its support will sponsor the building of household toilets in some of the poorest countries in the world, as well as helping to fund clean water and hygiene education.

Axis Cleaning and Support Services works with a variety of clients, from single office contracts to larger multinational and industrial clients, at about 1,000 locations throughout the UK, and has more than 3,000 staff.

Its commitment represents a significant contribution to Toilet Twinning’s work.

‘People are at the heart of our business, so we are delighted to have committed to twin every toilet we will be contracted to clean from the beginning of 2018 to support the Toilet Twinning cause and help improve the lives of others around the globe,’ said Simon Giles, Group Finance Director & COO Axis Cleaning and Support Services.

Toilet Twinning CEO Lorraine Kingsley said she was extremely grateful for Axis’s support. ‘It’s shocking to think that 2.3 billion people worldwide still don’t have access to a safe, clean toilet – while here, in the UK, we tend to take our toilets for granted,’ said Lorraine.

‘It’s wonderful that Axis has chosen to acknowledge the importance and value of the toilets it cleans by twinning them. In doing this, they are enabling others overseas to have facilities that will protect them from disease and help them take a big first step out of poverty.’

Axis Cleaning and Support Services was founded nearly 40 years ago, and prides itself on continually developing new working methods and introducing new technologies.

Toilet Twinning raises funds to provide proper sanitation, clean water and hygiene education in some of the poorest countries in the world. In return for a £60 donation, you can twin your toilet with a latrine overseas and receive a certificate with a photo of your ‘twin’ and its GPS coordinates.
